About the Contest
Each year, the Maui News conducts a poll of its readers who vote on their best eating experiences. They publish this list in early November. Since you've probably forgotten by now, the following is taken from the November 29, 1999 Maui Scene. Mahalo to the Maui News for this service to us all.

Best Overall: Back on top is Roy's Kahana, now a five-time winner of first spot. The man who started it all Roy Yamaguchi has a TV show on PBS, Hawaii Cooks, and several cookbooks. So if you want an excellent experience, try Roy's.
Honorable Mentions: Pacific'O in Lahaina, and Jacques Bistro in Paia and Kihei.
Best New Restaurant: i'o in Lahaina.
